BRRRRRRR!

Things are cooling DOWN in Sydney!  I am amazed every year - which is a bit silly for a winter creature like me.

Thought I might share this timely recipe for one of my favourite soups ever.  Sodden weather scrumptious And easy as A B C (badda boom).

Imagine - you (and your favourite bootee) on the couch, snug in your Ugs with a steamy mug of alphabet soup.  Winter doesn't get cosier than that!

Loubootees?

I spent a few hours today doing one of my favourite things in the world, scouring the internet for glorious boots and (naturally) I came across the Christian Louboutin website, which led me to Louboutin World.  A mish mash of glorious shoe madness!  Jesters, fortune tellers, studs, sparkles and superhero shoes. If you have a few spare minutes, do check it out, it will put a smile on the face of any shoe lover.

And did I find my dream boots?  You bet I did.  A Bootee can dream can't he?

A run for my money

A short post today, since things have been quite busy in Bootees world!  But I thought I might celebrate the start of Autumn with this cute little fella in his gumboots.  I hate to say it but he's giving Bootees a bit of a run for their money for the cutest thing around in boots!

Daim, that's good!

Now I know anything related to IKEA shouldn't whip me into a blog frenzy but AS I have devoted myself to blogging about all things genius I feel an obligation to spread the word about this scrumptious candy choc treat!  I'd love to say it has been a long love affair but as I'm 2 years old that's a big call....  But in my experience there's nothing much better than shuffling through that great big box of IKEA and through the checkout to Daim heaven.

I got googling and found some amazing looking recipes I'd love to get my hands into.  But since I don't acutally have any hands I have posted some pictures here for your drooling pleasure. YUM!

If you haven't tried this salty sweet almond brittle and chocolate candy bar, get thee to an IKEA quick, where you can snap up a family bag of Swedish goodness for $8.99.  Unfortunately between myself and the Bootees family, these don't last too long.

Heat hallucinations

Bizaaaaare...  I was just on my way to the fridge for a paddlepop and I looked down and saw this chip in the paint on the floor.  Maybe it's just the summer heat getting to me but it totally looks like a monkey face (I put some 20c coins down as ears so you know what I'm on about).

Good grief.  I think I need to sit down and have a paddlepop.

Sloth+Bear+Giant?!?

 someone needs a hug!

nick trying to sneak up on the Giant Sloth.  don't worry, its not a real one : \

As you know, Bootees is a sponsor of the Free the Bears Fund. Check out our last post on the Free the Bears Fund here.  The Free The Bears team rescue a lot of Sloth Bears in India (where they are used as dancing bears).  I'd never heard of a sloth bear before so I found it super interesting when we came across this Sloth Bear cave in Chile.  It's a gigantic cave where the remains of an ancient Giant Sloth Bear was found - where he had apparently lived thousands of years ago in an exciting time when Giant Sloth Bears roamed the Earth.

Well.. I thought it was fascinating.

Just as interesting, here is a photo of inside the cave - there wasn't a square centimetre that wasn't covered in sandy footprints.  To go where no bootprints have gone before will have to wait another day....

Bear Love

mokiyup, our sponsor Moon Bear

Bootees is a proud sponsor of the Free the Bears Fund, which is an Australian organisation that rescues bears in dreadful situations in countries such as Laos, Cambodia, India and Vietnam.

Mokiyup is a very special Moon Bear that we are sponsoring in Cambodia.  Sadly, Mokiyup was rescued as an exotic pet, stunted and starved from a young age and near death. We recently received an update from FTB on how he is doing at the FTB sanctuary and it is super to hear that he has been putting on lots of weight and will be moved into an enclosure with more playful young bears (he apparently is a bit shy of the older ones he is living with at the moment).

If you have 3 spare seconds to learn more about this wonderful organisation, please click here.

The Family

clockwise from the left (Sunday, Goldie, Jim Jam, Pebbles, Frankie, Dot, Effie, Rosie and Speckles)

It's all too easy to take family for granted sometimes.  I was having a good think about this when I was having a snuffle over the latest episode of The Secret Millionaire.

Bootees come and Bootees go (since every style is super limited) and although it's great to see them going to a new home we need to capture those moments we're all together.  So I decided to rustle everyone up for a family portrait.

It was harder than I thought it would be.  As you can tell, Rosie totally loves photos but you can see Dot edging away.  The  Mini's just don't like to stay still at all.

What do you think of my photographic work?

Red Wellies

You know nothing about be if you didn't know that I love my red wellies, so I thought I should post a picture of them up here for you to see! Aren't they beautiful!  (this is what they look like new)

Mine aren't as red as they used to be because ever since getting them I wear them to death. I even sleep in them!  But then that's nothing normal because most Bootees spend their lives wearing boots.

They make puddles and rainy days just the best fun, I just wish Sydney would cool down already so I can get out and about in them without getting all those crazy stares.  But then I usually get crazy stares when I'm out.  You'd think people had never seen yellow checkered pyjamas before.

Strangely I don't have a picture of me wearing my wellies, but it's probably because I'm the one taking the photos - but here is a photo of my Bootee buddy Pumpkin posing in them for me so you can see how good they look on.  (And YES, Pumpkin's a nickname but she won't tell anyone her real name.  I think it's probably something dagsome like Agatha-Mae).

I'm probably going to get in trouble now - so I'd better let you know there ain't nothing daggy about Pumkpin and you can totally get one of your own here if you want.

Better sign off before I put a foot in it.

Hi, I'm Charlie

me (sorry bout the mug shot)

Wowza.  First blog post.  I'd better introduce myself.

My name is Charlie.  I'm a Bootee, the very first one there was.  I guess that makes me a bit of a grampa.  Which is cool because I wear pyjamas constantly and being a gramps makes that OK.  And why not, everyone needs a bit more pyjama in their lives!

I love my checkered pj's but I'm sometimes seen out and about in my favourite red gumboots, even in summer.  My other favourite things are sleeping on grass, icecream flavoured chuppa chups and car window breeze - its the best.

I live and spend most of my time at Bootees HQ (in Sydney) but I sometimes get out and about.  Which is what this blog is all about.   How does a boot stuffer with no hands blog you say?  Don't be fooled, I have my methods.

Apart from all of that, I am the face (and legs) of Bootees, so I'll occasionally post cool stuff like sales, welcome newcomer Bootees to the stable and any fun competitions or events we do.

Follow my adventures here - can't wait to meet you all!

xoxo charlie
